The ability to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology is certainly an added value for an employee. Because, currently many companies are looking more at employee candidates who have these additional competencies.
This is proven by the Project Management Institute (PMI), a project management association that has released a report on Global Project Management Job Trends 2024. The report highlights the important role of AI or artificial intelligence in changing the career landscape.
One of the findings in the research is the increasing demand for employees with expertise in using artificial intelligence. One example is the 2,000% spike in job postings referring to generative AI mastery skills from March to September 2023.
The report notes that AI has become a major driver of change, changing the way people view work and careers, and identifying the skills that are most in demand.
In Indonesia, with a majority productive age population, many young professionals see project management skills as the key to career growth. PMI is committed to empowering these employees through certification, tools, and support with stakeholders for long-term career development.
SoHyun Kang, PMI Regional Director, PMI Asia Pacific said, with this report, it is important for Indonesian employees to continue to improve their AI skills in order to face technological developments and take advantage of the vast career opportunities in the digital era.
“Indonesia has a growing young population. With 70.72% of the population in the productive age range, namely 15 to 64 years old, Indonesia is enjoying a demographic bonus. Many young professionals see project management skills as the key to career growth,” said SoHyun Kang in a press release to Marketeers, Monday (4/29/2024).
In the global landscape, 82% of senior company leaders believe that the adoption of AI will affect the way companies run projects in the next five years. The report also revealed that 91% of respondents believe AI will have a significant impact on the project management profession.
However, there is still a gap in the AI learning curve, as only 13% of companies offer AI training to their employees. However, 21% of professionals admit to using AI regularly to improve the efficiency of their project work.
This shows the importance of upgrading AI skills to stay relevant in the ever-changing job market.
