Tribler is a filesharing application with a decentralized system including support for streaming video which is specially designed to stay online under any circumstances. Tribler uses the Overlay-Networks network and thus makes the system completely decentralized. Although it still uses the Bittorrent protocol for data transmission, it doesn't need a Tracker or Torrent file anymore.
This software is designed to keep BitTorrent alive, even when all torrent search engines, indexes, and trackers are taken offline.
Tribler originated in the Netherlands and was developed at 2 universities, namely the Technical University of Delft and the University of Amsterdam. This Filesharing software was created with the aim of providing an open platform that can be accessed by anyone for a Filesharing network that can be used for both personal and business purposes.
The development carried out at the two universities was funded by the European Union in the framework of the P2P-Next program for the development of integrated Peer-to-Peer techniques. Tribler supports Videostreaming broadcast over the Tribler network and can be viewed Live via the integrated video player.
The desired content can be searched with the search function that is available since this latest version supports the anti-spam feature with a choice of criteria either manually or automatically. Support social media, where users can mark all contacts to be friends.
Tribler is very similar to the Transmission application, but is officially available for the Windows operating system. It is a decentralized peer-to-peer BitTorrent Client which is open source and does not display any ads on its homepage. You can use a torrent client to download files, videos, movies, pictures, freeware software, etc.
The technology has been tested for six years continuously by experts, and has never been offline for a second. Tribler is based on BitTorrent technology, so it can be used to share normal torrent data uploaded from sites like BT Junkie and Pirate Bay.
