This printer is designed to work only with cartridges that use Original HP chips or circuits and will block cartridges that use non-HP chips or circuits. Periodic firmware updates will maintain the effectiveness of these measures.
The printer recommended that I use the HP software available online to install. Once I downloaded and installed the software, I then tried to use it to link the printer to my computer through our home network.
LaserJet Pro 3001dwe can print up to 35 pages per minute (ppm) in black but not color. The print resolution of this printer reaches 1200 x 1200 dpi. It has an input tray that holds up to 250 sheets and a 150-sheet output tray. Unfortunately, the 3001dwe can only print, not scan and fax.
During the software installation, the software asked me many questions about whether I would allow the application to collect different types of information about my printer usage. I refused to give consent to one of them.
This printer comes with HP+ allowing users to subscribe to smart ink for 6 months. Auto ink cartridges will be delivered, which saves up to 50% on cartridges. However, after 6 months, a monthly fee will apply unless you cancel the subscription. Compatible 3001dwe print cartridges include HP 138A Black LaserJet Toner Cartridge (W1380A) or HP 138X Black Toner Cartridge (W1380X).
