Under ideal conditions, black document prints at 8.4 images per minute (ipm).While color documents print at 5.6 ipm when working in ESAT mode. This machine also accommodates up to 2368 nozzles according to ISO/IEC 24734. For minimum ink droplet sizes, color documents have ink volumes of 1, 2, and 5 picoliters. It also produces black documents with an average resolution of 600 x 600 dots per inch (dpi).

Color documents, on the other hand, have a print resolution of up to 9600 x 2400 dpi. Options include US, letter, legal, and photo envelope sizes in standard paper sizes.

Canon PIXMA MX860 also has an automatic paper feeder that can load up to 150 pages of plain paper. It has an automatic sheet feeder that can hold 150 sheets of plain paper. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) can also feed up to 35 additional sheets of plain paper.

Some of the well-known features of the printer include automatic two-sided printing, automatic photo retouching, photo printing, document printing, and borderless printing. Other things include an automatic page feeder and print templates.

The device can load up to 150 pages via the ADF in the case of the output tray. In addition, copying with this machine has a first copy copy speed of 27 seconds in single-sided mode.It can also zoom from 25% to 400% to zoom out and zoom in. The scanner, on the other hand, uses a contact image sensor (CIS).
