Although you can type in the name of a formula to find it, it would have been more useful and intuitive if Cakebrew featured a built-in search form capable to filter the displayed results.
By running the Doctor, you can take advantage of the Homebrew's feature capable to detect the most common cause of errors. The Preferences slide sheet helps you provide your proxy settings along with the custom path to your custom installed Homebrew.
