Java Runtime Environment is software that functions to run all Java-based applications and is a technology produced and developed by Oracle. This application allows you to run applications called applets written in the Java-based programming language.
This language was originally created by James Gosling when he was still at Sun Microsystems and is currently part of Oracle and released in 1995. This language adopts many of the syntaxes found in C and C++ but with a simpler object model syntax and minimal support.
Java-based applications are generally compiled into p-code (bytecode) and can be run on various Java Virtual Machines (JVM). this system is a programming language that is general / non-specific (general purpose), and is specifically designed to take advantage of implementation dependencies to a minimum. Because of its functionality that allows java applications to run on several different operating system platforms.
If we only want to run Java applications and do not plan to code Java programs, then the JRE is the application we need. In the JRE there are java commands that can be used to run Java byte code.
Java Runtime Environment is developing very rapidly and has been adapted by various platforms. With its motto "Write once run anywhere", Java has become a popular programming language today, and is widely used in the development of various types of application software or web-based applications.
Many applications, whether running on Windows, Mac or Linux, require java to function and use properly. An easy example is if you want to upload photos to Facebook, your computer must first have this JRE installed.
Examples of sites that use javascript such as facebook and google. Java functions can be seen when we type words in the google search textbox. If on facebook, the javascript function can be seen on several wall displays that look dynamic without having to refresh it first.
