But sometimes there are partitions on our laptops that are full and want to run out, for example partition C: so you want to increase the capacity. Here are the steps on how to increase partition C capacity in Windows 10 for beginners.

  1. Right-click the Windows icon on the desktop as indicated by the arrow.
  2. After that you select Disk Management.
  3. Here I want to add capacity to partition C: by taking some capacity from other partitions. In this example, I want to take the capacity of the D: partition, hereinafter I will call it the DATA 1 partition. Then right-click the DATA 1 partition and select Delete Volume. Note: Previously, make sure you have moved all data and files on the DATA 1 partition to another partition or to other storage media such as an external hard drive or flash drive.

  6. The previously deleted DATA 1 partition will become Unallocated. We can add the Unallocated partition to our C: partition.
  7. The next step right click on partition C: then you select Extend Volume.
  8. If a display like this appears, just select Next.
  9. The total capacity on the Unallocated partition is approximately 13,000MB or about 13GB. You can add the entire capacity to the C: partition or just take part of it, depending on your needs. Here I only want to take about 5GB, so the remaining Unallocated partition is only about 8GB (13GB – 5GB = 8GB). Then you select Next.
  10. If a notification like this appears, just select Finish.

Now, here we have succeeded in increasing the capacity of our C partition: from what was originally around 19GB, it is now 24GB. At this point, you have actually finished adding capacity to partition C:

  1. The remaining Unallocated partition can be used again to create a new partition or be added to another partition. But here I want to be Unallocated as a new partition. How to right-click Unallocated then select New Simple Volume.
  2. After that you select Next.
  3. Then enter the desired amount of capacity (here I enter everything) then select Next.
  4. After that select Next.
  5. Enter the name of the partition, I equate it with the previous one, namely DATA 1. Then you select Next.
  6. Then you select Finish.
  7. Yup, you have successfully added capacity to partition C: while creating a new partition from Unallocated.
