Solving Printer ink does not flow – ink is one of the important things on the printer device, when printing, of course, if there is a problem with the printer ink. One of them is printer ink does not flow properly, this is a classic problem that is often faced by owners of inkjet or infusion type printers.
Generally what is the cause of the ink not flowing? The ink that does not flow is caused by the ink flow that is blocked at the hose because there is too much air in the infusion hose, causing the ink not to flow into the cartridge.
Dealing with ink that doesn't run smoothly into the cartridges is actually quite easy to do and doesn't need expensive equipment to deal with it, but it still requires some equipment that you usually use when filling ink, and the most important thing is the need for patience in doing it.
2 Ways to Solve Printer Ink Not Flowing
Previously you need to make sure first whether there is air in the hose from the ink cartridge to the printing, then what is the cause? Was it really a normal printer before or the printer had not been used for a long time so it was clogged. If it was still normal before, please follow the steps below to overcome the printer ink that does not flow.
1. The first step
Open or lift the printer cover up, let the printer into service mode and make sure the cartridge position is in the middle of the printer so that the ink flow towards the cartridge is clearly visible.
When the cartridge is in the middle, remove the infusion tube attached to the cartridge or at the same time with the elbow (knee) that goes into the cartridge, this is only for those who have colds (there is air only)
Prepare the syringe that you usually use to fill the ink, make sure the syringe is clean, and there is no remaining ink in it, even better if the syringe is washed first until it is clean, then dried. After the syringe is dry, please remove the needle first, because it is not needed.
2. Second step
After that, open one of the ink tube caps with a hole the size of a syringe hole, usually a small one. Pull the plunger/syringe piston to collect air, then insert the tip of the syringe into the ink tube hole in an upright position.
then push the syringe piston forward while watching the infusion hose, observe whether the ink flows into the cartridge through the infusion tube or not. If flowing make sure the ink fills the hose to the part at the end of the hose towards the cartridge
3. Third step
Repeat the above steps on the other ink hose holes that have air, while observing the ink flow running in the infusion hose. Make sure all parts of the hose are filled with ink and not empty, if there is still an empty hose, that means the ink hasn't all gone down, please repeat the second step to push the ink into the cartridge.
After all the colored and black ink flows into each cartridge, please close the ink tube hole and don't forget to close the printer cover as well.
4. The next step
Perform a deep cleaning process or Deep Cleaning so that the ink flows into the print head again. You can do this directly through Microsoft Word, on the document to be printed, click Windows > Print > Properties > Maintenance > Deep Cleaning.
or through the settings in the control panel
how to click the windows icon on the Taskbar > Device and Printers > Right click on the printer > Click Properties > Maintenance > Deep Cleaning.
After the four steps above are carried out, usually the printer ink will flow into the cartridge, but if the next day you find the ink does not flow smoothly back into your printer, it means that there is an indication of a damage problem, such as the infusion hose is damaged and cannot be used anymore. Damage to this infusion hose can be due to a leak, or has been pinched during printing, or other problems.
Alternative ways to deal with other ink not flowing
For those of you who don't plan to buy a new infusion hose to replace the mods that are currently stuck, please try the alternative solutions below to keep the ink flowing into the cartridges without using an infusion hose.
- Open the printer cover
- Remove the infusion tube from the cartridge and from the ink tube
- Prepare 4 syringes for each ink color (black, yellow, red and blue)
- Fill each ink into the syringe.
- Remove the cartridge from inside the printer
- Inject ink into the cartridge according to the color, for black ink it is written "B" which means black or black, for color ink above the cartridge is written "C" or color for colored ink. Color ink cartridges on Canon printers usually have 3 holes, the position of the red color is on the top, blue on the left and yellow on the right.
- After all the cartridges are filled with ink, please clean the top with a tissue in case the ink overflows.
- After the cartridge is clean, reinsert the cartridge into the printer, then close the printer cover.
- Run deep cleaning as described above.
From our experience, this method is 100 percent successful in overcoming the problem of printer ink not flowing and can be used as a second alternative if you don't have a new cartridge hose, but the drawback is that the ink must be filled frequently into the cartridge, because the capacity of the cartridge is not as big as the ink tube.
Actually there are more advanced and several ways that can be applied to overcome infusion printer ink that does not run in the hose, such as raising the ink tube position higher than the cartridge position, pulling ink from under the cartridge with special tools, and many more.
