Recommended Windows Operating System That Runs Fast on the Hard Drive!

Sometimes there are emails, DMs and chats addressed to me on social media, where some users ask about recommendations for the official Windows operating system that runs fast on hard disk devices.

Now as we know, I also often recommend Windows 10 users to update the storage used to SSD, because a common problem that usually occurs in Windows 10 itself is 100% Disk Usage which I have discussed in the article itself.

Then is there any other way besides upgrading to an SSD? Of course there is, the best solution is to use an operating system that runs quite fast on the hard drive, and here are some Windows operating systems that you can consider using on the hard drive.

Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 is indeed less popular even many users consider one of these Microsoft products a failure so that Windows 8 itself only existed for less than five years before being replaced by Windows 10.

But for those of you who want a Windows operating system that runs fast and smoothly on the hard drive and has better software support than Windows 7, then I recommend Windows 8.1 enough. Even so, unfortunately the Extended End Date of Windows 8.1 itself will end on Jan 10, 2023 later.

Windows 10 LTSB 2016

Now if you want to use Windows 10, then Windows 10 LTSB 2016 is the one I recommend the most, even though it's quite outdated in terms of features, because this OS is based on Windows 10 1607 (Anniversary Update) which was one of the early eras of Windows 10, OS it is quite stable and runs fast on Harddisk or SSHD devices, this is because the services and features that are present in this OS are not as many as the latest Windows 10, especially the LTSB version itself brings several main advantages, such as the absence of bloatware, Microsoft Store and others.

Windows 10 LTSB 2016 itself will reach the end of the Extended End Date on October 13, 2026 later, so you can still get security updates and fixes in general until that date.

Windows 10 LTSC 2019

If you want a newer version, you can use Windows 10 LTSC 2019 where this OS is based on Windows 10 1809, compared to Windows 10 LTSB 2016, of course there are some important features that have been presented in this version, such as the Clipboard History, Timeline, and features. other features.

Even so, this OS also brings the advantages of the Long Term Servicing Channel version, which is that it doesn't carry a lot of bloatware and is lighter than the usual Windows 10 Pro and Home. Also keep in mind that Windows 10 LTSC 2019 itself will reach the end of the Extended End Date on January 9, 2029 later, so you can still get security updates and fixes in general until that date.

Conclusion

Of the three Windows operating systems that I have mentioned above, the Windows 10 LTSB and LTSC options are certainly the most I recommend, because apart from that, Windows 10 supports more common applications at this time, the support period itself is still quite long, up to several years in the future.

For performance, of course using the OS mentioned above is quite lighter than using the latest Windows 10 Pro/Home, especially compared to Windows 11, but the drawback is that maybe we won't get new features and are stuck with existing old features, but of course it's comparable to the given performance, at least it can run smoothly on the hard disk without having to be annoyed with finding 100% disk usage cases every time.

Will the 100% Disk Usage issue still persist?

Even though you are using Windows 10 LTSB 2016, the problem is unfortunately still there and will still be there, although it will not be as frequent as in Windows 10 Pro or Home, most problems will arise if Windows Update is running, or when you are using the hard drive for certain processes. .

It should be noted that this article is based on my own experience with an Intel Core i3 4610 PC, 2 GB RAM and 500 GB HDD. Experience may vary depending on the specifications you have. So what do you think? any other recommendations? comment below guys.
