Since January 2021, Microsoft has begun to discontinue support for the
Windows 7 operating system, which has been popular for 10 years by many
people. Although until now the popularity of Windows 7 has not subsided,
Windows has prepared a newer operating system, namely Windows 10.
Even so, that does not mean the Windows 7 operating system can not be used
at all. This system can still be used on PCs, but no longer support from
Microsoft will make the security of PC devices more vulnerable to virus
attacks and the like.
If you want your PC to get security support, then you can update the
operating system to Windows 10. Don't worry, you can still get it for free.
It's just that you need to have a genuine or legal version of the Windows 7
or Windows 8 operating system. Those of you who have the Windows 7 Home
operating system will be updated to Windows 10 Home and Windows 7 Pro will
be updated to Windows 10 Pro.
However, not everyone understands how to update Windows 10. In fact, as a
user you should understand how to update Windows 10 yourself.

Update Windows through the update assistant is considered the easiest data,
so this method is the most commonly done. The main requirement for updating
in this way is to have a stable internet connection.
However, our advice is to use Wifi and not a data plan. The goal is to save
on quota usage. Because, this method has a fairly large file memory
download. Here are the steps:
- Again, make sure you have a stable internet connection.
- Download the file from a trusted site. Don't forget to make copies or back up files for your important data.
- As an option, you can also create a file recovery.
- After the file has finished downloading, find the download and install it on your PC.
- After the application is installed, you can immediately start the update process to Windows 10 by running the Update Assistant application.
- Once the application is open click the “Update Now” button, the system will perform a device check to ensure that your device is compatible with this operating system. If this process is complete, the download process will automatically take place.
- Finish downloading, click "Next" and wait for the update process to complete.
Then, the system will restart the PC with your consent and this is the final
step of updating the Windows 10 operating system.
After the PC restarts, you can immediately use the PC with the new or
updated operating system.
Update Windows via Windows Update
In addition to using the methods above, you can also update Windows through
Windows Update which is the default application of the operating system on
your PC.
This means that you no longer need to download any software. Here are simple
steps using this method:
- Open the "Settings" menu.
- Click the 'Check for Updates' button. If there is, the system will automatically perform the download. After the download is complete, restart the PC.
- Next, the Windows 10 operating system will automatically carry out the update process and you just have to wait until the update process is complete.
- For this one method, it is recommended to update after there is an update notification. You can update without waiting for the update notification, but this is not the best advice from us. We recommend that you update when there is a notification that instructs you to update.
